Kitti Drake
Hello, my name is Kitti. I graduated from Athens State College in Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Mathematics Education in 1989. Life happened, a move to a different state, 3 kiddos, a full time teaching career, and 30 years later, I got my Master’s degree in Special Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

I have been teaching for 24 years. I taught for 19 years in a public school, before moving to a virtual school. I began teaching Middle School Math in 1992 in a small school in Montgomery, Alabama. After moving to Indianapolis in 1993, I taught Pre-Algebra. In 1997, I moved to high school, where I taught Algebra 1 and Geometry for the next 11 years. I then moved to a Special Education program and worked with students of all ages in an Alternative setting. Five years ago I began teaching Algebra 1 at a Virtual School, that serves students all over the state of Indiana. In addition to teaching in the classroom and virtual setting, I have also been a homebound teacher and tutor.

When I am not working or tutoring, I can be found running on one of the many great trails Indianapolis has to offer. Running helps me alleviate stress and keep my sanity. I’ve run numerous 5K’s, 10K’s, and Half Marathons. I’ve also completed three sprint triathlons, 5 full marathons and 1 ultra marathon. If I’m not running, I love riding my bike around downtown Indianapolis when the weather permits. I also love hanging out with friends and family and sewing in my basement.
